From One Generation to the Next: Learning from the ESSEC MBA LUXE Alumni

Over the course of the last four months, the MBA Luxe 2014-2015 class has had the pleasure of attending several presentations and conferences provided by leading luxury professionals in the industry today. To-date, the MBA Luxe class has met with professionals from Parfums Christian Dior, Givenchy, L’Oreal Luxury Division, Bobbi Brown, Printemps and Richemont, amongst others.

However, what has truly made these experiences unique for our class is that ESSEC alumni of the MBA in International Luxury Brand Management program provided the majority of the conferences. During these presentations, the alumni have shared not only their viewpoints on the current market but also intimate anecdotes about their own experience during their time at ESSEC.

Attending presentations featuring these alumni has given our class the opportunity to not only hear the alumni’s thoughts on the industry today, but also connect with them on a more personal basis and receive some key advice as we develop our own career paths in the future.

Some of the most notable key insights that the MBA Luxe Alumni have shared to-date are:
  • Always maintain a humble attitude
  • Be a champion of your own ideas
  • Keep things simple, it is often the most elegant way
  • Stay open to opportunities, you never know where the next one may come from
  • As a manager, make decisions, not judgments

As our first term has come to a close, our class has reflected on these key insights and we are so grateful for the time that we have had with the alumni. We thank all of the guest speakers who have taken the time to meet with our class and we look forward to many more conferences in 2015.
